BAD NIGHT…

4/24/2010 11:30:00 PM

Milan fall at Palermo with a team decimated by injuries. Goals by Bovo, Hernandez, and Miccoli, Seedorf answered for the Rossoneri. Milan pay for a bad approach to the game.

PALERMO – In the second anticipated match of the 35th matchday of the league, Milan fell at Palermo. For the Rossoneri, decimated by injuries, it was too difficult to keep up with a healthy team that was convinced of being able to earn a Champions League spot.

Without a number of players, Leonardo designed a team with a lot of heart and dedication, with Oddo in the central defensive position. The Rossoneri’s start of the match was nevertheless too negative and Palermo understood within the first few minutes that they could control the match. The Rosanero were more aggressive and dynamic, and after just 8 minutes they found the first

[milan news] after matches vs lazio part 2

PROUD BUT UNLUCKY

3/28/2010 11:37:00 PM

Against Lazio there’s a lot of pride. The Rossoneri try in every way to win the clash, but can’t go further than the 1-1. Borriello scores from the penalty spot, Lichsteiner responds. In the second half useless assaults towards Muslera’s goal.

MILAN – In the evening match of the 31st matchday, following Roma’s win against Inter, the Rossoneri fail to take advantage of teh chance to decrease the gap from the top. A Milan side without too many players finds it tough to have the better of a Lazio side who is well placed on the pitch. Following the goal scored by Borriello from the penalty spot, Lichsteiner responds in the final part of the first half. In the second half a generous and determined Milan fails to score.

Bad luck can be the only way of reading tonight’s game which could have awareded other satisfactions. The fact that nine players were unavailable in this part of the season, explains the difficulties Milan faced again st Lazio. Against the Rossoneri, Edy Reja’s side, who conceaded 32 goals in Serie A, is almost impossible to penetrate if you cannot count on Pato, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Mancini and the rest.

It’s not the Roman formation who controls that game, Rocchi and team-mates limit themselves to counter attack, being careful not to allow any spaces. Milan without fantasy forces Clarence Seedorf to think about the moves and Lazio presses onb the Dutch player.

However, Milan ion the 18tgh miunute takes the lead. Kolarov brings Flamini down inside the penalty area and for the referee Tagliavento it’s a penalty. From the spot Borriello scores the 1-0.

After the Rossoneri’s lead, Lazio increases the pressure. The counter attacks of the capital city side are quick and dangerous, and Lazio pushes with conviction, enabling them to deservedly equalize in the 32nd minute. Antonini fails to clear and after a double rebound, the ball ends at Lichtsteiner who scores.

Milan put effort and anger in the second half, dspite the many injured players. The Rossoneri push forward and in the 9th minute Antonini hits the bar after going past a few Lazio players. However, Milan tries with great pride to break through  and almost scores in the 21st minute. The great work by Antonini who passes to Inzaghi: Pippo crosses towards the small penalty area where Borriello goes round and with a volley sends the ball high.

LAzio responds with Dias who troubles Dida with a right footer in front of goal which ends high. The force of the desperation pushes Leonardo to take off Inzaghi for the debut of Zigoni. Space also for Jankulovski instad of Zambrotta. However, the tiredness does not allow the players to reason things out and Abbiati loses sharpness in the 37th minute to shoot towards an empty net. Seedorf’s moves forwards are useless towards the end, despite his effort. Milan was lacking the missing players and luck.

[milan news] after match lazio vs milan

IT’S NOT OVER

3/29/2010 12:12:00 AM

The Rossoneri group isn’t thinking about giving up in adversity. The lads aren’t looking at alibis and only think about staying competitive, the top isn’t so far and the injured players will return.

MILAN – Here are the comments of the Rossoneri protagonists against Lazio:

ANTONINI: “We are disappointed, in the second half we played on their half, we lost some important points. It was a nice duel with Lichtsteiner, I did well, the goal was an unlucky bounce, Mauri gave the ball to Lichtsteiner, I read the situation in a certain way, maybe I could have let it pass but I wanted to clear it away. I’m also not lucky in front of goal, after Manchester and tonight’s crossbar, too bad. It was important to steal the ball to restart with Pippo and Borriello up front, we had chances but we lacked the final touch. Undoubtedly the injuries are conditioning us, but we have to fight and try to score goals. The pitch did not help us tonight, we often slipped, but they’re details. We believe in it, we are Milan. Ronaldinho? He gives me reference points, he wasn’t there but who replaced him did well.”

ZIGONI: “My debut was a great emotion, too bad about the result, we only lacked the goal, we played a good match. There are many absences, we did what was possible to replace who wasn’t there. Against Cagliari it won’t be easy, but the league isn’t finished.”

AMBROSINI: “There’s regret, but we aren’t going through a bad moment, it’s unusual, but the top isn’t far, we are just three points behind. We are sad, it’s normal, we all want to aim high, but from Tuesday we’ll go back to work with conviction.”

[milan news] LET’S CONTINUE BELIEVING

3/25/2010 11:14:00 AM

The Milan coach doesn’t give up after the defeat at Parma. Milan have always reacted to every kind of difficulty and will continue doing so. The race is open, but Milan only have to think about themselves.

PARMA – After the defeat at Parma Leonardo analyzed the match and the Rossoneri’s moment: “Today we had a poor first half, they made us suffer, but even when we had the ball we didn’t have clear ideas. In the second half we did better, not with a lot of clarity, but we created some chances. Then in the end we were punished by Bojinov’s goal. We had thought about a different match, the idea was to have players who played the ball well, but evidently we didn’t have a great night. In the second half we improved, but we weren’t incisive. Now we have to stay calm, we have done important things and we can’t lose ourselves. Pirlo’s sending off? I don’t comment on refereeing decisions. It’s the fifth defeat in 30 games, we are together with Roma and we still have Inter at a reasonable distance. I can’t deny that our play has given us quality and goals, we have a clear identity, our characteristics are clear. At the moment we have essences that are certainly important, we are less incisive, but we still want to maintain our characteristics. We can’t change our way of interpreting games, I think that tonight we lacked sharpness. We’ve had many highs and lows this season, this team has always reacted, that’s why I am calm. I still believe in it, something between Inter and Roma will happen, but we have to think about ourselves.”

[milan news] LAZIO FOR SAFETY

3/25/2010 12:54:00 PM

The latest positive results of Lazio have calmed down the environment at the capital but Reja’s team are still looking for necessary points to get out of the struggle for safety.

MILAN – After the midweek round at Parma, Milan will host Lazio at San Siro on Sunday. Reja’s men are coming off two consecutive victories against Cagliari and Siena, points which have given a breath of fresh air to a team that has fallen to a dangerous position in the table.

Edy Reja replaced the sacked Ballardini on February 10 and since then in 7 matches they’ve earned 3 victories, 3 defeats and 1 draw. The capital side have won just three times away from Rome against Chievo, Parma, and Cagliari. They drew 6 times and lost 6 times.

Currently Lazio have 32 points in the table thanks to 7 victories, 11 draws and 12 defeats. Despite the negative results of the Roman team the defence is Lazio’s strong point. The capital club have conceded 32 goals and have the third best defence of the tournament behind Inter and Milan.
